Handmade in Japan from papers made with renewable plant fibers and silkscreen printed in multiple layers Chiyogami papers are based on ancient traditions of woodblock dating back to the Edo period (1603-1867). Patterns are based on the textile patterns of kimonos with many traditional motifs visible in the highly coloured papers - patterns include cranes, cherry blossom, pine, and bamboo, as well as geometric and contemporary imagery. Papers are made up of up to 10 layers of design and many include gold or silver details in their pattern
